Abbey Marketing Communications Ltd, the Essex based direct mail and plastic card processing specialists established in 2002, and Smart Technology Cards (STC), the Kent based technology and eco card specialist have enhanced their overall offering by acquiring the Dorset based plastic card, luggage and event tag manufacturer, Brydian Cards Ltd.

STC is pleased to announce that it has acquired ID Card Supplies - a company that specialises in access control & software for Gyms & Leisure Centres

STC expands its plastic card manufacturing capabilities with investments into new Oasys Card Punch and CASSilo Card Attachment systems.
In response to the continuous growth within STC, a significant investment was required to assist in the reduction of lead-times and the on-going development of the ever-evolving, innovative STC business portfolio.
STC Managing Director, Russell Godfrey, explained “We have been producing in excess of 40 million plastic cards annually; however, our increasing growth has meant that we needed to invest significantly to increase our specialist manufacturing capacity and almost more importantly our ability to securely fulfil and mail these cards; the CASSilo line represented the perfect solution”.

Since its launch in 2016, STC’s ECOcard solution has been chosen by a number of key brands to replace conventional PVC cards.
ECOcard, a monocore substrate, has been designed specifically for plastic card production and offers a 100% recyclable, lower cost alternative to PVC.
Produced in Europe with a low carbon footprint, this versatile material is available from 350 to 800 micron and delivers smooth edges and extra rigidity. It can also be laminated with a Magnetic Stripe.

STC director Russell Godfrey, has been encouraged with the uptake of ECOcard:

“ECOcard has given our customers a price saving alternative to a high-volume PVC card and other eco solutions on the market. It is much lighter than PVC meaning that we only use around 70% of the material weight for a card”.

He added: “ECOcard is now clearly seen as a proven alternative solution. As well as price, our customers have been particularly impressed by the quality of the print and finish achieved through our UV litho presses”

Smart Technology Cards (STC) are pleased to inform you of the next phase of development following a successful period of sustained growth in our plastic card sector.
STC Managing Director, Russell Godfrey, explains the new changes “We have been producing in excess of 40 million cards annually but our growth has meant that we needed to significantly increase our specialist manufacturing capacity and throughput; at the same time build on our sales, account management and data services expertise to ensure both the integrity of our products and our customer service remains second to none”.
To achieve our objectives, our operations will now be divided into two clear areas of activity:
- Sales, account management, and data services - will continue to operate from a new facility in Kent
- Further manufacturing capabilities are being relocated and operated by our specialist card manufacturing partner in Yorkshire; which now includes card personalisation; card fulfilment and mailing.
This reorganisation will allow STC to operate with one of the most specialised plastic card manufacturing and fulfilment facilities in the UK. Our joint expertise now lies in the manufacture, personalisation and mailing of plastic cards and all aspects of fulfilment. Operating a policy of constant investment has meant that magnetic stripes can be applied to 800 micron substrates including ECOcard; Board; PVC; ABS and Polypropylene….
Utilising the latest in print technology we also specialise in the manufacturing all sizes of card orders. This flexibility ultimately ensures production lead-times are dramatically reduced and orders of 3 million cards can be processed in less than 2 weeks.
